Genese Leach

Program Officer, Environment

Genese leads the Foundation’s Environment grantmaking program. She has experience in environmental policy, coalition building, and community engagement. She was most recently with Greenprint Partners where she worked with local communities and municipalities to understand the benefits of community-driven green infrastructure. Her responsibilities included community education and outreach. Prior to Greenprint Partners, she worked for Audubon Connecticut, National Trust for Historic Preservation, and The Nature Conservancy in various government relations and advocacy roles.

Genese participated in the Kresge Foundation’s 2019 Racial Equity Learning Program to develop a deeper understanding and skills to incorporate equity, diversity, and inclusion in climate resilience work. She is passionate about increasing the engagement of youth and communities of color in environmental issues. She holds a BA in Environmental Science and Policy from McDaniel College and completed a study abroad program in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
